Awkward Lake Ni-Cu-PGE Operations

The Awkward Lake property is comprised of 256 claims (approximately 10,000 acres) owned 100% by Cascadia with no underlying third party royalty agreements. The property is located approximately 50 km southwest of the community of Armstrong Station in Northern Ontario and is easily accessible by float plane from Mackenzie Lake located just outside of the community. Logging roads also come within 10 kms of the property making it possible to access the area by winter roads for field work and drilling. The property is also located approximately 70 kms to the north of the Lac des Iles Palladium-Gold-Nickel-Copper mine operated by North American Palladium Ltd.

The property was orignially staked based on historical work completed by Harrison Minerals in 1963 which outlined several zones of mineralized gabbro with assays of 15 feet (4.57 m) of 0.33% Ni, 0.21% Cu at 280 feet (85.34 m) in drill hole #63-7 including a small interval of 0.54% Ni and 0.23% Cu over 5 feet (1.52 m) at a depth of 285 feet (86.87 m).  The seven drill holes completed by Harrison Minerals did not intersect the footwall contact between the gabbro and the underlying country rocks where Ni-Cu-PGE rich massive magmatic sulphides are expected to accumulate.

Evaluation work completed by Cascadia confirmed the presence of anomalous Ni-Cu-PGE in several of the historical showings with surface grab samples grading up to 0.384% Ni, 0.290% Cu, and 0.181 g/t PGE from the West Zone located in the southwest part of the property.  This showing area returned Ni tenors (calculated for percent Ni in massive sulphides) of 4.53% to 5.77% Ni from surface trenches with over 200 feet (61 m) of exposed mineralized gabbro.

Cascadia plans to complete a high resolution airborne geophysics survey on the property as well as follow-up prospecting and mapping in the next phase of exploration. The program will target possible high grade magmatic Ni-Cu-PGE rich sulphides along the lower parts of the mineralized gabbroic intrusion. There has been no exploration activity reported on the property since the 1960s.
